IT Systems Affected Following Ransomware Attack
Nickelhütte Aue GmbH, located in Aue-Bad Schlema, has become the target of a ransomware attack. Criminals used malicious software to infiltrate parts of the company’s office IT systems and encrypt data. As a result of this criminal act, the company is currently experiencing disruptions in its IT systems. Company officials are working intensively to clean the systems and restore normal operations. The company is receiving support from external cybersecurity experts. “The protection of data, the continuity of our services, and the safety of our employees and partners are now our top priorities,” says Managing Director Henry Sobieraj. The company is in close contact with the relevant authorities and is cooperating transparently with all responsible entities.
“We take this incident very seriously and are doing everything possible to mitigate its effects as quickly as we can,” explains Sobieraj. “We ask our customers, partners, and employees for understanding and patience in this challenging situation. Further information will be provided as soon as verified updates become available.” Nickelhütte Aue, based in Aue-Bad Schlema near Zwickau, Saxony, can look back on almost 400 years of history, making it one of Germany’s oldest smelting works. More than 400 employees recover non-ferrous metal concentrates, nickel, copper and cobalt salts, alloy ingots, and vanadium compounds from industrial residues and scrap materials.
